Commercial CCR

Name: Madelyn Cannon________________________   Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?      This project compared how one pen worked V.S. the pen we were advertising. The Paper Mate pen worked better than the pen it was being compared to.   Many commercials do this to show how their product is better than another/a rival company and/or product.                     2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?   This commercial would probably be on a commercial break for TV. This commercial could get audiences interested in Paper Mate pens as it demonstrates how the pen could be better than other brands.                   3.       How did your production skills develop throughout this project?   Before this project I was not that great with a camera/filming things. However

My commercial

This project was the first major project I did in this class. I decided to do this project in a group.  This project was fun to do as I knew my groupmates. We had fun doing this project. However, we did get the work done (on time). I learned a lot about the different cameras angles you can use and the editing process.  After this project my editing skills/filming skills  have improved a lot. There was a few areas/things that I still am not the best at. I still have a lot to learn. I am looking forward to growing/improving on future projects.

commercial editing: finishing

Today my group finished editing the commercial we filmed. We were basically done so today was really just going over the commercial . As a group we tried to find things we could fix/change. The first thing I did was look at the time. The time was around 27 seconds. Me and my group discussed speeding up or slowing down scenes. However, it was decided that shots did not really have to be sped up. So the main focus was on what could be slowed down. Me and my group first tried to make a scene (the ones with the pens) slower. This however just made the commercial longer than 30 seconds. So I just slowed down the scene so it was around 26 and/or 27 seconds. It took a little bit to get it to/close to the speed it was originally before we tampered with it. After this I suggested that we look at other shots and see if they could be made slower. Me and my group tried to slow down some scenes. However, this just made them look weird. After that they were put back to how they were before. Today I

Starting editing commercial

Today me and my group started editing the commercial. The first thing that had to be done was to get the clips off of one of my groupmates phones and put them all together. I double checked that all of the clips were there. I also made sure they were in the right order. There was a clip that ended up not being used as the pen looks like its about to fall out of my hand. I also made sure we filmed in the right setting/mode. After I had made sure that the clips were in the order at they needed to be in me and my groupmates decided what background music to use. As a group it was decided that the music used would have no words. Music with words would be too distracting to the audience.  They might only focus on the music and not the commercial. For the genre of music it was decided that the music would have to be bubbly/fun sounding. Music that sounded sad would not have fitted as well. The sound in the videos clips were muted as they did not contribute to the commercial in any way. The m

Today we finished filming our scenes for the commercial. Luckily this time we had all of the materials we needed so we did not have to make any trips back to the classroom. I did however have to change so I was in the outfit I was in as the last time we filmed. When we got to our filming location we set up our props and double checked that we had everything. The first scene we shot was the third scene on our storyboard.  We did not fully film the 3rd scene last time so we had to go back and fully finish the scene. We first had to draw the final picture in steps (Kennedy did this).  We than filmed me drawing on the picture (for all the different stages of the picture). This made it make sense in the commercial.  After this we had to film the 4th scene. This was the pens dancing. For this we had to move to a different table near the cafeteria. We only needed one take for this. We filmed it by putting them in one line one after the other. After we filmed it we edited it so that it was fas
