production blog: finishing editing music video
Today in class my group and I finished up editing for our music video. The audio was readded and worked so all that had to be done was adding the speech/what people were saying and make any final changes. My group and I once again only used one computer to edit. The first thing that we did was put what people were saying into their respective scenes. The editing Sofware/app that we used had a feature where you could insert text. So, we just used that. At first, I suggested that speech bubbles be used so that the audience could see who was talking. However, this didn't work, and the speech bubbles just looked funny. Ultimately, my group and I decided to just put the text near who was talking. After that my group and I took turns listening to the song over the video to see if the lyrics matched what was happening on the screen. The conclusion made was that the song did not entirely match what was happening in the video. Because of this, as a group it was decided to make the intro of our feet be without the music and have the music start only after that. I also had the idea to fade out the song during the scene were me and my teammates were playing on the playground. This was because a verse started during the very last scene, and it did not make much sense. I also suggested that since this was our last scene, we put the end on it so the audience would know it was finished. I also changed the shade of the words to purple so people could read it more clearly. Since the end of the music video had no sound and it looks like we are having fun, I also suggested that laughter be added from a blooper or from the ending of one of the scenes in the music video that had been cut into the final ending scene. After this was done Tasmia, Kennedy, and I took multiple turns watching the music video to see if there was anything that any of us thought should be changed and ultimately decided that the music video looked good as it was. During the editing process, we did stray a little away from the original storyboard as we edited. However, we did try to keep to the original storyboard as much as possible. One of the main reasons that the music video does not look the exact same as the storyboard however is because of an issue with time.
