Title Design Research: Succession
1.How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones?
There are 11 titles that are displayed during the opening sequences to the film. Those titles were the actors, casting director, production designer, the editor, director of photography, music director, the producer, executive producer, the creator, the screenwriter, and who directed the film.
.
2.What connotations do the images carry? (How do you they make you feel)
The connotation the images carried was historic and then modern. The opening sequence went back and forth from the past and present. This made me feel that the film was going to do the same.
3.How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? (Can you tell what genre the film is?)
The genre was reinforced through symbolic and technical codes. The genre was historical, because it showed images from what looked like the 90s. It also showed people from the past then showed them in the present, but they were older.
4.What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
Some conventions that were used to ensure it hit its target audience was the song, the song wasn't too upbeat that it would draw in younger folks, but it wasn't too slow that it would draw the attention of older folks. So, I think the target audience was the middle generation. It also showed things that looked like it would appear in the past, that may interest some people.
